Manipur has been at the centre of Asian economic and cultural trade for more than 2000 years. The history of Manipur dates back to almost 3000 BC.
In recent history, Manipur was one of two major centres of world war II battles in India – the other being Kohima. Among other things, Manipur is famous for being the land where the sport Polo was first played as well as the land where the Indian flag was first unfurled. Manipur's remarkable history and exquisite culture, its pristine natural beauty and diverse ethnicity tempt you to come back again and again.
